Una pareja joven y enamorada, cargada de ilusiones, Grace (Jennifer Lawrence) y Jackson (Robert Pattinson), se muda de Nueva York a una casa heredada en el campo. Grace intenta encontrar su identidad con un nuevo bebé en ese entorno aislado. Pero al redescubrirse a sí misma tras un periodo de desmoronamiento, no lo hace en la debilidad, sino en la imaginación, en la fortaleza y en una impresionante e indómita vitalidad.
