Rick (Owen Wilson) y Fred (Jason Sudeikis) son dos amigos que llevan mucho tiempo casados. Aman a sus esposas pero, como les ocurre a muchos hombres, no pueden evitar tontear con cualquier mujer que se cruce en su camino. Cansadas de tener que andar vigilándolos, sus esposas Maggie (Jenna Fischer) y Grace (Christina Applegate), deciden optar por una decisión un tanto atrevida para revitalizar su matrimonio al darles “carta blanca”: una semana de libertad para hacer lo que quieran, sin preguntas después. Siete días para ver exactamente qué es lo que hay ahí fuera que creen que se están perdiendo por estar casados, pero las cosas no saldrán como ellos pensaban. En un principio creían que era un sueño hecho realidad, pero finalmente se darán cuenta de que la vida de soltero no es como ellos esperaban.

Comedia de los hermanos Farrelly (“Dos tontos muy tontos”, “Algo pasa con Mary”) en torno a dos amigos que temen haber arruinado toda la diversión que había en sus vidas, especialmente en lo que al sexo se refiere, con sus respectivos matrimonios, pero sus esposas decidirán arreglar la situación dándoles un fin de semana libre, un paréntesis en sus matrimonios, en el que podrán desmadrarse todo lo que quieran, sin remordimientos ni explicaciones. Una comedia con moraleja que se apoya en los trabajos de sus dos protagonistas, : Owen Wilson y Jason Sudeikis.
