La Academia de Hollywood ha anunciado las precandidaturas de 10 de sus categorías. Entre ellos el del Oscar a mejor película internacional, donde están «El buen patrón», de Fernando León, por España; «Noche de fuego», de Tatiana Huezo, por México, y «Plaza Catedral», de Abner Benaim, por Panamá. Además cuatro películas escandinavas: «Flee» (Dinamarca), «Compartimento nº6» (Finlandia), «Lamb» (Islandia) y «La peor persona del mundo» (Noruega). Eliminada la francesa «Titane», que traas ganar Cannes se la consideraba favorita, ahora lo son la japones «Drive My Car», de Ryûsuke Hamaguchi, la italiana «Fue la mano de Dios», de Paolo Sorrentino y la iraní «Un héroe», de Asghar Farhadi. Completan la preselección la austriaca «Great Freedom», la belga «Un mundo mejor» («Playground»), «Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom», de Bután y «Hive», de Kosovo. Además Alberto Iglesias ha pasado también la criba por la música de «Madres paralelas». Y entre los cortometrajes de ficción aparece la española «Distancias», de Susan Béjar.
Las nominaciones al Oscar se conocerán el 8 de febrero, y estos se entregarán el 27 de marzo. Estas son las candidaturas preseleccionadas desveladas este 21 de diciembre:
